Fiona Apple – Bootlegs

These last few days I’ve been searching all over the Internet for some Fiona Apple bootlegs, but I almost failed. Fortunately, I won’t write here about those Fiona Apple bootleg recordings I’ve been able to find information about, because those are just a few tracks, although their history is pretty interesting.

Today, I will tell you about two full shows, recorded in 2005 and 2006. Even better, I will give you the download links to them! I only hope Sony won’t come to tell me what I do is wrong, because I think we’re only trading information like real fans should – I am not selling what I found, and I don’t charge anything for my research work.

Because when I first heard about bootlegs, I had no idea what is such a thing, let’s say, first of all, that a “bootleg recording,” usually referred to simply as “bootleg,” is a video or audio recording of a show not officially released by the artist, or under other legal authority. I don’t want to get deeper into the legal matters of the story – I only hope nobody will shoot me for providing download links to Fiona Apple bootlegs here…

Anyway, since this is more about information, let’s get started with what I managed to find out so far. You can consider this list below to be “work in progress,” and it would be great if you could help me make it the most accurate list of Fiona Apple bootleg recordings on the Web. OK, these being said, let’s start with…

2005. Extraordinary Machine (Bootleg release)

“Red, Red, Red”

“Sleep To Dream”
“Limp”
“Paper Bag”
“Tymps”(The Sick In The Head Song)

2006. Live in Paris (Folies Bergere, 10 April)

“Get Him Back”
“Better Version Of Me”
“Shadowboxer”
“To Your Love”
“I Know”
“Sleep To Dream”
“Limp”
“Paper Bag”
“Tymps”(The Sick In The Head Song)

“On The Bound”
“Red, Red, Red”
“Not About Love”
“O’Sailor”
“Get Gone”
“Fast As You Can”
“Extraordinary Machine”
“Criminal”
“Parting Gift”

I have no idea about who recorded these last two bootlegs here, but sound quality is decent, as you’ll be able to figure out for yourselves once you download them. The Paris bootleg has 118 MB in size, and “Parting Gift” is missing from the archive(the only one I’ve been able to find was damaged), while the archive containing the LA concert has 134 MB, and that should be all for now.

Oh, I almost forgot about the password! This is the same for both archives – “We_Love_Fiona_Apple” – without the quotation marks, of course. To unpack the archives, you’ll need 7-Zip, the best free archiver money can’t get. That’s it folks, I’ll add new bootlegs as soon as I find them below this line, but for now, it’s “bye bye,” and nothing more! 😉

15th of February – As I was hoping, I managed to find another Fiona Apple bootleg in the meantime. This time, we’re talking about an old one, recorded way back in January 2000. To be more accurate, I’m talking about a live set recorded at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York on the 7th of January, 2000. As expected, the songs are coming from her first two albums, “Tidal” and “When The Pawn.”

2000. Live at the Eastman (7 January)

Track Listing

“On The Bound”
“To Your Love”
“Criminal”
“Limp”
“Sullen Girl”
“Paper Bag”
“Get Gone”
“Love Ridden”
“Sleep To Dream”
“Carrion”
“The Way Things Are”
“I Know”
“A Mistake”
“Fast As You Can”
“Just One Of Those Things”

The password is the same as for the other two bootlegs, but this archive is a bit smaller, with a bit less than 68 MB in size. Just click here, and grab this new Fiona Apple bootleg I managed to retrieve. Oh, yeah, and maybe you’ll get back here from time to time… I’ll do my best to keep this page updated with useful information for true Fiona Apple fans!

22nd of February – Good news, people! Today, I just managed to grab Fiona’s “Fiona Has Wings” bootleg, including covers! Sound quality is very good, although we’re talking about 96kbps MP3 files, but before we get to the download part, here’s the track listing, especially since the files in the archive are not tagged, and they don’t have proper names, either…

1996/1997. Fiona Has Wings

Track Listing

“Never Is A Promise”
“Criminal” (Radio 99 X Studio Master)
“Sleep To Dream” (Atlanta)
“Slow Like Honey”
“The Child Is Gone”
“Sullen Girl”
“Pale September”
“Sleep To Dream” (“Morning Becomes Eclectic” Sessions)
“Never Is A Promise”
“Criminal” (Omega WHFS Sessions)
“Criminal” (Maryland Studios)
“The First Taste”

Password’s the same, but this time you only have to download 47 MB of data(click here). Even more, you can print the covers and burn these files to some Audio CD, and you’ll get a great present for any Fiona Apple fan you happen to know. That’s it for now, but I’ll do my best to keep’em coming!

12th of March – Another update, and this time a video bootleg! We’re talking about Spankin’ Live on MTV, but the truth is that I am a bit lost here. Some sources claim this is a 51 minute recording, while what I have is only 36 minutes long, without giving me the feeling something is missing…

1999. Spankin’ Live on MTV(Sony Studios NYC)

Track Listing

none, for now

Same password, two files to download and unpack(about 250 MB): part one and part two.

20th of June – Oh, my, I must say that I am really sorry about the delay, but at least I got my hands on some new Fiona Apple treasure, and now I’ll finally share it with you! The download has 43MB in size, and same password as the others that came before it. Enjoy!

2005. Extraordinary Machine(Leaked Version)

Extraordinary Machine Leaked BootlegExtraordinary Machine Leaked Bootleg

Track Listing

“Not About Love”
“Red, Red, Red”
“Get Him Back”
“Better Version of Me” (rough mix)
“Oh Well”
“Oh, Sailor”
“Used to Love Him”
“Window”
“Waltz”
“Extraordinary Machine”
“Please, Please, Please”
“Better Version of Me” (alternate version)

That’s all, for now, but the fight for more Fiona Apple bootlegs is still far from over!

  2. AppleMadman says:

You’re welcome. I will update the page in a few days with a new bootleg, “Live at the Eastman.” Unfortunately, I have no data about it yet, only the tracklist.

  3. anna says:

thank you so much. it’s so hard to find anything live from Fiona on the internet. and her 3 albums ain’t enough in no way.
though, i don’t know what that .7z thing is. the unpacker doesn’t seem to work with my XP.
any other suggestions how to unzip it?

  4. anna says:

oh, and i got to your place through bootlegsfrombucklberry.blogspot.com
    hope you know it.
i’d love to come back here for more Apple(s) but that format is scary… need to learn it or give up, i guess.

  5. AppleMadman says:

anna, I just sent you an email. I hope it helps! 😉

  6. anna says:

thanks for the email. you’re more than helpful. now everything goes smoothly. got all 3 bootlegs. not the best quality, but still it’s a special treat.
of course, I’d appreciate it if you happen to post any more Fiona live 🙂
thank you once again. i’ll be back.

  7. sn says:

hi this site is golden!!!!! i am excited that you had the mtv spankin’ live tracks–i was pretty mesmerized even it was only via the tv when i watched her then…anyhow, i think i’m having some issues w/ the dl (like anna perhaps?). i am unable to extract the files and there’s no prompting for password… if you could help that’d be great.

thanks for posting her bootlegs / live stuff!!!!

  8. AppleMadman says:

Sabine, thank you for your kind words; I sent you an email.

anna, there’s new stuff, as you can see, and some more will come in the future.

  9. Peter says:

    Thank you for this gift.

I actually went to Eastman and missed the show. Then i went to the Roseland Ballroom and was there when she broke down. 🙁

I am looking for a bootleg of hers recorded at the Phoenix Concert Theater in Ontario, Canada. If you know where to find it let me know. I have looked everywhere.

  10. AppleMadman says:

It was a pleasure to find this gift for myself, and it’s even a greater pleasure to offer it to others. No news about the Canada concert you mentioned so far, but I’ll surely come up with something new these days. Stay close! 😉

  11. Kaile Taylor says:

Thank you so much for this I absolutely love Fiona Apple and this is such a treat.Although I have downloaded the audio tracks a unpacked them without incident.I cant unpack the video,I get a cannot open error. The download came as an unknown file and wont open with 7-zip.Can you tell me how to get it?

  12. AppleMadman says:

You have to join the 001 and 002 files, that’s the catch. Use Total Commander’s “combine” feature and you’ll get a 257MB 7-Zip archive. Total Commander’s shareware version can easily get the job done.

  13. Kaile Taylor says:

Thanks that got it.I pray that she will some day come to Sydney Aust.Until then this’ll have to do.
    Thanks

  14. Brian says:

Does anybody know where I can find a recording of one of the shows Fiona Apple did with Nickel Creek? I have looked everywhere. Thank you!

  15. AppleMadman says:

Do you have any other details about those shows, like location, date, maybe name of the bootleg(s) released, if any?

  16. Brian says:

The youtube clips I found were from August 7 and 16, 2007 at Oven’s Auditorium in Charlotte, NC. She did about 15 shows with them around that time, but the live clips on youtube have those dates so there are probably mp3s floating around somewhere. I don’t have a name of the bootlegs yet, but I hope that helps.

    Thank you again.

  17. AppleMadman says:

I’ll do my best to find them. I’ll probably edit the article in the next few days, if something comes up… 😉

    Thanks for the info!

  18. Baphomette says:

Hi there! Don’t know if you’ll see this before the auction ends (especially since the last entry you posted was back in April) but I thought I’d pass the info along regardless: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190355674481&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT#ht_1360wt_1165

Fiona Apple – Sweet Angel (1998)

    Thank you!

  19. AppleMadman says:

This listing () has been removed, or this item is not available.

I was sleeping when you posted the comment, so I missed it… but thanks a lot, anyway!

  20. Fiona Apple Fan says:

Most link are dead 🙁 Can you please reupload them?

  21. AppleMadman says:

How in the… They were all right last time I checked, and I get email alerts if they are close to expiring. Found only one missing, I’ll see about it. Damn, I don’t even think I still got it around! I’ll do my best to have it back up in a few days.

  22. Garbonzo17 says:

Would love to get the MTV video, the second part of the span set is missing, and you said you didn’t have the set anymore, do you have the original? maybe we could use a dropbox or something, rapidshare is painfully slow (for non-members). I have a better quality release of the Extraordinary Machine leaked, happy to share, and a few live and cover tracks too. Beatles (Across the Universe).

  23. AppleMadman says:

Sorry for the huge delay, I’ll email you in a few days. Maybe we can add some of the stuff here.

  24. Garbonzo17 says:

I know this isn’t really on topic with BOOTLEGS.
BUT, in case anyone missed it, you can have access to the whole new album NOW!

Hey I am sure you know you know you can listen to the whole album on NPR HERE: http://www.npr.org/2012/06/10/154422085/first-listen-fiona-apple-the-idler-wheel

Also, someone recorded the Stream from NPR and made MP3s… so it will do until you can actually buy a copy (if you are into Torrents).
    Demonoid has it here: http://beta.demonoid.me/files/details/2950048/?hl=fiona%20apple

Either way, make sure to still support her and buy it if you like it…
It’s definitely a more stripped down production, but its growing on me fast, and I have already pre-ordered a CD… I prefer to make my own mp3s, m4a, or flacs depending on the use… and I don’t like DRM limiting how I can listen to my music, that I purchased. (BUT that’s not what this email is about, so I wont digress any further.)

So like I said, this is all probably old news to you, but in case you missed it, here ya go.

    -Pk

  25. Don says:

I’d also love to get the second file please for the MTV video.

  26. AppleMadman says:

Working on it… it’s been lost somewhere around and I’ve had a lot of work in the last few months. Still have a lot of Fiona-related stuff to share with the world and hope nobody would jump on me – trying to avoid sharing copyrighted works, but these copyright-infringing hunters seem to get more annoying with each day. 🙁

  27. Garbonzo17 says:

I am willing to help with some creative hosting/sharing… I assume you have tried Google Drive, Dropbox, and Skydrive… need to RAR/password them using the encrypted file names, so their sniffers can’t peek inside… it’s a pain for downloaders (passwords I mean) but it can make things last alot longer.

  28. Garbonzo17 says:

And BTW, there are lots of decent videos from SXSW and her recent little tour on YouTube… in fact I read that she basically requested that the record label NOT make posters and marketing materials and is COUNTING on the fans to make this record a success. So please support…. even though it’s been out there for over a week already, buy it.

Also, I am sure that if you have found THIS website, you have ALREADY seen the new stuff on YouTube…. so this was kind of a waste.

p.s. Still want the 2nd half of that video too! 🙂

  29. AppleMadman says:

Thanks for the suggestion, all files are archived using 7-Zip with file name encryption enabled. It seems someone reported that file, there’s no way to spot what’s inside it automatically. Damn it, this is not copyrighted material… but it’s probably the same thing as removal of YouTube videos of people singing some song. One of these days, they’ll start pressing charges for people whistling a song in the shower… 🙁

  30. Don says:

Yep, I actually bought the album twice… once on itunes to get the bonus track and again on vinyl. Just saw Fiona the opening night in Ithaca she was fantastic. Just bought tickets to see her again in Buffalo!

  31. Garbonzo17 says:

Don, great on getting to see her! I wasnt able to get tix when she was in MD/DC area a couple months back (I am in VBch, VA so only 3-4hr drive) and now that she just played MD and is doing DC in a few days I am out of state for work! SO, I am hoping I can do one of the N.C. shows in September… the Durham is only 2+ hrs.

I tell ya though, I am almost glad I didn’t shell out what it would have cost for tix for that warm up tour a few months ago (it sold out like instantly, so I was looking at scalp $)… I think she’s probably got her live chops back a little more by now… This was just one person’s opinion I read, but it wasn’t flattering… could have just been an off night… If anyone cares to read it was here: http://www.ticketmaster.com/Fiona-Apple-tickets/artist/780749 under “Fan Reviews and Photos” down the page a bit..

  32. casey says:

if anyone could reupload a link to the LA show that would be amazing! the rapid share link is dead

  33. All links are dead, can someone please update them? Thx

  34. Hi, I’ve been trying to find bootlegs of FA playing with Nickel Creek. I know there’s a Family band album out there but I want the full ‘string band’ scenario. Any ideas?

  35. AppleMadman says:

No idea, but I will look for it.

  36. AppleMadman says:

That’s the problem with bootlegs. Hard to find, hard to upload somewhere to stay around long enough for those that find them to be able to download them. I’ll try to re-upload all the stuff I can find around once again. I had a catastrophic data loss a few years ago and I still haven’t recovered from it…
